An Adventure In India
It was Sunday, March 6. Our group posed for a picture before we hopped in the vans and set off towards India. (Well at least the airport)
We were all excited as we flew out of Minneapolis. Our lay-over was in Paris, where we couldn't see the Eiffel Tower :(, but there were some things to take pics of in the airport.
After a long flight, we landed in India in the middle of the night. It was eye opening as we drove past people sleeping on the sidewalks, taxis and rick-shaws zooming past, and the slum areas on the side of the road.
We got a good sleep until morning, then we got ourselves out of bed to explore the city.
We saw many people, who all seemed to be staring at us. I loved the sights and sounds of the town.
The first day visiting the Children's home was exciting, and so was meeting the staff who are doing a wonderful job there. Of course, playing with the kids was a huge highlight!
We painted four rooms there, and others worked on painting the play ground equipment. Some of the guys in our group did maintenance projects as well.
We had a bus to get us from our hotel to the Children's home every day, this was a typical bus ride.
Our last evening was beautiful and sad all mixed together.
And the goodbyes were hard...
All in all, it was an awesome experience! I loved the kids, the culture, the traffic, and the times when my eyes were truly opened to what our sisters and brothers across the world go through day to day.
*Many of these pictures were taken by our team leaders.
Wow that looks amazing!
