TWO Every-Day Moments!

So you may have realized that I have not blogged for a while....  I will be doing two every-day moment posts in one. How does that sound?  :)

        1. Describe yourself with one word...

I wrote this question on the white board at the library.  I was not expecting people to describe themselves as savage, mad, or mean, but you come to realize that you can never expect normal things to happen at the library.
It was very interesting for me to hear people's views of themselves.  Is this how everyone thinks?

2.  Chicago. So many things come to mind with that one word.
Black dreadlocks against a blue shirt, eyes staring from behind a dark burka, a child's excited wave as he is tripping behind his parents,  skyscrapers, pigeons, busses, singing, crazy van rides, and many conversations.
Our church group goes into Chicago every year over Labor day weekend.  So many things happen.  Good things, scary things, and very real things.  God was with us. You could feel it as we sang.  We knew He was there while people yelled at us and made fun of us.  We felt His presence as people looked with interest at our group.
One may ask why we would go to a Chicago street corner to sing a few old hymns. It sounds crazy doesn't it?  I thought so too once upon a time.  Finally God made it clear to me that it isn't about us singing hymns and giving people cds and tracts.  It is about being willing to share God's love.  It is about letting God work in and through us.  We can't save or change lives.  God does.  That is why we go to Chicago.  The Holy Spirit does the work.  We are the tools.
