Ste-e-e-e-eamboat A-Comin! By Jill Esbaum

My mother gifted this to Jasper before he was even born. I was thrilled to add it to my collection of children's books.

The whole book feels like an exciting adventure in a quiet town along the Mississippi. 

The book starts quiet and peaceful, with small pictures. Then quickly builds to an exciting climax in a full page colorful narrative of everybody getting off the steamboat showing off their wairs.  

The book ends with the pictures becoming smaller and the boat continuing down the river to another waiting town.

Jasper loves the boat of course, but he's also intrigued with the bell, the smoke, the dog, and the flow of the poetry itself.
